Meridian, Miss. "Go Green Meridian" cut the ribbon on a community garden on Friday.
The organization has been working hard to develop an organic, sustainable garden, that was made possible entirely by donations and volunteer labor. The new garden, called "Love and Peas Community Garden" is located just behind Cater's Market on Highway 493 in Meridian. Craig Wilkes says it's an effort to bring the community together to learn about producing food in a healthy, natural way.
"We're trying to educate people on how to grow food responsibly and sustainably," said Wilkes. "Growing food is growing money. We're reaching out to all members of the community."
Wilkes says "Go Green Meridian" is also set to host the statewide Sustainable Living Conference in Meridian, April 4th-6th.
