MHA Still Looking to Revitalize George Reese

Updated: Thu 11:44 PM, Mar 21, 2013

Efforts are still underway to revitalize a public housing community.

The Meridian Housing Authority hosted its community meeting for its Choice Neighborhood Grant on Thursday evening. Executive Director Ron Turner says officials are looking at ways to revitalize the east end of the George Reese Court Community. Right now, the housing authority is trying to secure a $30 million federal grant.

"Of course, with a lot of budget issues that are happening at HUD, this may take a while," Turner points out. "There are some things they've got to work out before the put the notice of funding availability out there."

Turner says the community has done a good job of working together during the course of the project.
