The Labor Day holiday was a relatively safe one on state highways, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
There were no fatalities on state roads in east Mississippi during the three-day weekend. Two fatalities were recorded elsewhere in the state.
Law enforcement took part in the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, looking for impaired drivers who might be out on the road.
The MHP had extra patrols and conducted roadside safety checks throughout the weekend.
Troop H, which covers east Mississippi, wrote 18 DUI citations and worked 11 traffic accidents in which eight people were injured.
