MHS Students Explore Career Options

Meridian, Miss. Twenty male freshman from Meridian High School attended Project O.N.E. hosted by Meridian Community College and Rush Hospital.

O.N.E. stands for Occupations Not Explored by men in the healthcare field.

The group learned about the health-related programs at MCC such as nursing, dental hygiene, and radiology. They also toured all of the departments at Rush Hospital.

MCC vice-president, Dr. Barbara Jones, says this project is important since healthcare is such a big industry in Meridian.

"Not many students, as ninth graders, really have decided what they want their path in life to be, so we're offering career opportunities they can at least consider," said Jones.

Project O.N.E. is funded by a grant from the Meridian Community College Board.
