MPD Investigates Weekend Shootings, Robberies

Meridian police say officers responded to a report of a robbery at residence about 4:30 Saturday morning. The incident was in the 200 block of 23rd Street.

Police say a 76-year-old victim said a masked man came into his home and robbed him by force of his money. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The victim was not able to give a detailed description.

Also Saturday, police say they responded to a strong armed robbery at a motel on North Frontage Road. The victim told officers he was robbed by two black males who were staying in the room with him, but he was unable to provide a description of the suspects. The victim received minor injuries.

Police say they were called to a hospital emergency room about 4 a.m. Saturday because a man had been shot in the hand. The victim said he had been shot two hours prior while he was walking in the 3200 block of 11th Street. The victim could only say that a white car was driving by when he was shot.

Meridian police say they are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of 34th Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The MPD said it was reported that a small white car fired a shotgun blast at a parked vehicle at residence. No one was injured and only the vehicle was struck.
