MPD Investigating Multiple Weekend Robberies

Meridian, Miss. Meridian police cruisers have been on the go this weekend, responding to numerous robberies.

Investigators say the first one happened early Saturday morning near the intersection of 49th Avenue and 15th Street where the victim offered the two suspects a car ride before the suspects robbed the victim and shot at him. The driver was not hurt.

Officers were later called to the Deville Manor apartments on 11th Street where a woman was injured after her purse was taken during a strong armed robbery. Detective Dareall Thompson tells Newscenter 11 the suspect, carrying a gas can, knocked on the victim's door asking for assistance. That's when the incident took place. The victim's injuries are believed to be non life threatening.

About 10:40 Saturday night, officers swarmed the area of 15th Avenue and 23rd Street where Detective Thompson says an armed black male suspect approached the victim, took his bicycle, and then fled the scene. The victim in this case was also not hurt.
