MPD Issues More Information on Carjacking

Meridian, Miss. Meridian police have issued additional information about a carjacking reported Tuesday.

The initial report was that an unknown black male took a woman's vehicle at gunpoint around 4 p.m. at 29th Avenue and Interchange Road.

But the MPD said Wednesday that its investigation revealed the victim was attempting to buy drugs when the vehicle was taken.

Police say this is the second robbery this victim has reported. Officials say the first robbery occurred about three weeks ago when the victim reported being robbed at gunpoint in front of a house, also while attempting to buy drugs.

Police say both cases are still under investigation.
