MPD Says Potential Robbery Foiled

Meridian, Miss.

Meridian police say a possible robbery in the city was thwarted Wednesday.

Officials say an officer went into a business about 4:15 p.m., where an employee told him a white male had been in store for over an hour while another person waited for him in a vehicle outside.

The MPD says the officer investigated and found the man in possession of a gun. Officials said the driver of the vehicle was stopped after leaving the store.

Police Lt. John Griffith said both men were taken to the police department and processed.

The MPD did not disclose the name or location of the business.
