MPD Says Suspect Nabbed as Officers Responded

Meridian, Miss. Meridian police say they responded to a robbery call Thursday and took a suspect into custody on the way.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. at a store located in the 1700 block of South Frontage Road.

The MPD says while officers were en route to the call, a description of the suspect was given and a person was taken into custody by responding officers close to the store.

According to the victim, a male dressed as a female came into the store and shoplifted some items.

Police say when the suspect was confronted by a store employee, the suspect produced a device similar to a stun gun and used it to make his escape. The employee was not hurt.

The MPD says charges are pending on the suspect in custody.
