This Saturday residents can go to MPD headquarters downtown and drop off prescriptions they are looking to safely dispose of.

"You can walk into the font desk of the Meridian Police Department, there will be a box there," explains Mike Vick with Meridian Police, "and you just drop the prescription drugs off in the box and go on your merry way."

The drop off box will be available all day Saturday at the front of the Meridian Police Department on 5th Street in downtown Meridian.

I, in my right mind, am disposing of medication that my parents have received over the last few years that they no longer take and much of which has expired. If you cared about the environment or yourself, you would not be flushing medication down the toilet! Look up dea.gov and you will see that it is a national campaign that is going on tomorrow! Thanks MPD for this service!

just a suggestion unless u r riding a bike down there breathe the exhaust from your vehicle for the same amount of time it takes you to drive to mpd and see which is more toxic to your enviroment what do you think the dea is gonna do with it burn it most likely. unless u get ur drinking water from the treatment plant by the airport i dont think u have to worry about the enviroment having a accidental overdose. most medication break down into harmless components if it didnt most people would have fatal levels in their blood

sounds like mpd wants to fish for info on rx being sold or stolen. who in their right mind would waste the gas to drive there when there is a toilet within 15 steps. feel like i lost an IQ point just reading this story

heck no! I would love to have them to add to my stash. all those good drugs going to waste. one day they could be priceless. when obama care takes hold or the country goes into termoil, you me or someone may need them. hold on to them, one day they may not be available

expiration dates on anything is there for a reason even canned goods go bad most drugs lose effectiveness over time. case in point treid to use some old hydrocortisone cream on itchy bug bite might as well used crisco and toothpaste for all the good it did
