Updated: Tue 3:23 PM, Oct 16, 2012

The cousin of a man found lying in a Meridian street Monday evening who later died due to a gunshot wound to the head and chest has turned himself into police.

"It happened in and around a residence there in the 1800 block of 25th Avenue."

Rondarius Phillips was taken into custody Friday night around 9:00 PM, and is being charged with the Manslaughter of his cousin Randarius Smith. He is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility on a $250,000 bond.

Meridian Police Chief James Reed told us last week that, "As with the incident that occurred on the 21st of August, community input certainly led to the apprehension of those individuals. We're hoping that we get the same response from the individuals who live in that area, or individuals who may know about this particular incident."

His court date has been set for November 23rd.
