The Mississippi Supreme Court Thursday declined to hear the post-conviction petition of a Jackson man sentenced to 20 years for a 2005 armed robbery/slaying.

Court record show Tytus Williams pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2007 in Hinds County in the shooting death of Lukaji Namburi during a robbery at a motel in west Jackson.

Williams also was sentenced to 20 years on the armed robbery charge. It is running concurrently with the manslaughter sentence.

In his post-conviction petition, Williams argued he deserved a new trial because his attorney should have done a better job.

The state Court of Appeals last year ruled the court record shows Williams told the trial judge that he was satisfied with his legal representation.
