Students at Southeast Middle School have been learning some life lessons in their math class.
Students have been studying finances and how to budget their money, how to write checks, and using interest rates.
A car was brought to class Thursday and the students learned about what it takes to buy and maintain a vehicle.
"Why not go ahead and give them these chances and these opportunities to see the prices of things that later on they are going to buy as an adult, maybe that family members are buying right now?" said 6th grade math teacher, Jessica Johnson. "There's no reason to keep them in the dark about these kinds of things because eventually they are going to be citizens and adults in our world."
The students also researched information on colleges and vacations as part of the class.
