Newton County's Distinguished Young Woman paid a visit to Newscenter 11 on Sunday.
Mikayla May stopped by the station on Sunday afternoon to talk about being awarded a crown and advancing on to the state competition this summer. May tells Newscenter 11 it is an honor to win and she plans to represent Newton County the best she can in the state competition.
"I'm a little nervous," May admits. "Everybody's been telling me about it. Last year's Distinguished Young Woman told me it's a great experience, you'll never want to leave."
May says she plans to work on physical fitness in order to be in good shape for this summer's state competition.
