Tuscaloosa, Ala. The new president of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa is Dr. Andrea Scott Mayfield, currently a vice-president at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that the Alabama Board of Education has approved the appointment made by Alabama Community College System Chancellor Mark Heinrich.
Mayfield is set to assume her new role July 1. She was one of four finalists for the Shelton State position.
Mayfield has a doctorate from Mississippi State University in educational leadership with an emphasis in the administration of higher education. She also holds a bachelor of science and master of arts in teaching degrees in biological sciences from Livingston University/The University of West Alabama.
