Meals on Wheels held its annual Recognition Banquet for volunteers Friday.
About 145 volunteers donate their time and gas to deliver 228 meals a day to people in Meridian who need a hot meal.
Meals on Wheels director Mary Brooks says that the service couldn't happen without volunteers.
"They are very important because I am the only staff person at Meals on Wheels, so I can't be here and give them the meal and go and deliver them too," said Brooks. "So it's very important. Meals on Wheels solely depends on volunteers."
