Meridian, Miss. A point of discussion Tuesday night- the recent controversy with the Meridian Civil Service Commission, and how to move forward. Meridian Mayor Percy Bland says a committee consisting of the Chief Adminstrative Officer, a City Council member, and a Civil Service Commissioner has been formed. The team will review the entire employment process surrounding Civil Service. CAO Mike McGrevey asked the Council to lift a moratorium placed on the Commission so the City can take the next steps. Mayor Bland said the appointment of a fifth Commissioner is near. "We're going to discuss some recommendations to the Council for the fifth member hopefully within the next couple of Council meetings," said Bland. "We are going to let Mr. McGrevey, the CAO, communicate with Mr. Palmer, the attorney for the Civil Service Commission. So we can move forward with their selection of a Secretary and how the Commission goes about that," explained Bland.
