Meridian Day at NCF Set for Wednesday

Meridian, Miss. Organizers are preparing for Meridian Day at the Neshoba County Fair Wednesday. A Meridian delegation participates every year in Mississippi's Giant House Party.

The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation coordinates the special activities.

The Air National Guard, Meridian City Council, and Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors contribute to make the day a success. NAS Meridian always serves navy bean soup.

"For 25 years, Meridian has been supportive of the Neshoba County Fair for Meridian Day," said Michael Gibson, chairman of the Meridian Day Committee. "We're one of two cities left in the state supporting the fair in this event. We take a committee and a group from the Meridian area that goes up and spotlights Meridian."

The Meridian Day ceremonies kick off Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Founder's Square.
