Meridian, Miss. Juneteenth was celebrated in downtown Meridian Saturday.
Juneteenth is a historic observance, remembering the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation, in which slaves were freed.
The annual festival features food, music and socializing.
"It's ultimately a blessing from the good Lord to be here to perform and showcase my talent," said entertainer, 24 the Boss. "And supporting me here, running my ad on radio and TV, it's a blessing to be here."
"I like everybody coming together," said Jason Williams. "Blacks and whites come together as a family. I like this right here. I come every year and I'm enjoying myself. They have everything you want."
The Juneteenth Festival was expected to rock on till midnight in downtown Meridian.
