Meridian Police Investigate Two Armed Robberies

Meridian Police are investigating two armed robberies that happened Monday night within an hour of one another. The Dollar General at College Park was robbed at gunpoint about 9:45 p.m. Police say a man described as a black male wearing a yellow polo shirt pulled a gun on the clerk and left with the cash.

Less than an hour earlier, Meridian officers responded to a caller on 7th Avenue. A man had been robbed at gunpoint near James IGA Grocery, and the suspect got away with a cell phone and a tablet. Witnesses say he left in a red Chrysler. The suspect is described as a black male around 5' 10", wearing a white t-shirt.
