Meridian Police Make Arrest in Carjacking Murder

Meridian, Mississippi The Meridian Police Department took one man into custody Monday night in connection with a violent carjacking late Friday on 21st Court that ended in three people being shot, one fatally.

Meridian police took Cedric S. Norman into custody around 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of 34th Avenue. The Gang Task Force Unit took Norman into custody using information gathered by the "Violent Crime Unit." Norman is charged in that carjacking Friday night in which three men were shot, two were hospitalized and the third died.

"He has been charged with capital murder, armed robbery, car jacking, and aggravated assault," said Detective Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department.

The "Violent Crime Unit" was recently re-established by new police chief, Benny Dubose, who had it in place during his previous tenure with the department.
