It's only early November, but it's already beginning to look like the Christmas season in Meridian.

Meridian workers have already begun putting up Christmas decorations around the downtown and Bonita Lakes areas.

That includes the base for the big Christmas tree in front of city hall. The 34-four foot tree will be accented by dancing lights that keep time with Christmas songs.

"It's a beautiful tree that sits in front of city hall, and we were able to purchase it with a Choctaw tribal grant that the city has received," said the city's cultural affairs coordinator Casey Null. "We are just very fortunate to have it."

The tree lighting ceremony will be Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. in front of city hall. The public is invited.
