Authorities say a 70-year-old Meridian man walking on U.S. Highway 78 west of Fulton was struck and killed by a car.
Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson told The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal the man apparently stepped into traffic around 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
Mississippi Highway Patrolman Ray Hall said John King Yarbrough was killed in the accident.
Hall said Yarbrough apparently left his car on the side of the road and was attempting to cross Highway 78 and walked into oncoming traffic.
