Downtown Meridian was buzzing Saturday with Meridian Mardi Gras festivities across the area.
The festivities kicked off late Saturday morning with the Mardi Gras parade, but there is plenty more to the party than that.
This is the 10th year for Meridian Mardi Gras, and every year it features the Crewe of Barkkus dog parade, the Mardi Gras parade, and live music throughout the day along with plenty of vendors.
Local businesses were hoping for a boost from the event as plenty of potential customers filed into downtown.
Meridian Mardi Gras was scheduled to continue until 10 PM Saturday, with free admission.

I had to work this year but hope to be a competierer next year.
This years Mardi Gras in Meridian was great. My Gumbo cooking team and I had a blast. Thanks to Meridian Main Street for hosting such an event. We are already planning for next year's event. If you did not attend this year you missed a great time.
