The trial of a former Meridian police officer who was abruptly fired last year is set for this week.
Dean Harper, who was the chief of detectives, was charged late last year with impersonating a police officer, a misdemeanor.
His case is scheduled for Meridian Municipal Court Monday morning.
Harper was fired from the department in October 2013 and later filed a federal lawsuit against the city. The misdemeanor charge was filed after that.
Harper is currently waiting on the outcome of his appeal to the Meridian Civil Service Commission.
