Despite rainfall Tuesday and the probability of more Wednesday, a statewide burn ban in Mississippi is not likely to be dropped right away.
The ban on outdoor burning was issued several weeks ago, because of extremely dry conditions.
Officials with Gov. Haley Barbour's office say they will wait on the go-ahead from the Mississippi Forestry Commission before they will lift it.
Forestry officials say a couple of inches over two or three days time will make a big difference.
