Missouth Acquires Old Sears Building

Meridian, Miss.
Missouth Development announced it has acquired the Sears building on 22nd Avenue South.

Company president, Scott Carmichael, said he plans to develop the site.

"The entire area of 22nd Avenue across the overpass is undergoing a transformation, with the most recent renovation being the new Meridian Police Department," Carmichael said. "We are excited to have a property that is poised for extensive development."

Missouth notes that Sears was first located downtown and was one of the first major department stores to move across the overpass to 22nd Avenue. The building has been vacant since Bonita Lakes Mall opened in 1997.
