Monday Evening Weather Discussion
Changes are on the way, but they are changes we have to wait until the weekend to actually see. In the mean time, we are trapped in a very warm and sticky humid air mass that favors showers and thunderstorms in the evenings. Right now, a stationary front is draped across Kentucky and Tennessee and stretches westward across Missouri and Kansas. That stationary front is a noticeable dividing line between 90's to the south and 70's and 80's to the north. A mid-level low pressure wave will dive southward and drive that stationary front southward with it. When the stationary front begins moving, it is no longer a stationary front. It will become a cold front. Along the leading edge of the cold front, showers and thunderstorms will likely erupt. That will likely happen on Saturday. Between now and then, our weather will feel much like summer. By Sunday, our weather will feel more like fall.
For tonight, a Tornado Watch remains in effect for most of our area until 11 PM. Expect evening thunderstorms to give way to mostly cloudy skies and areas of fog developing after 1 AM. The low will be near 75. The wind will be from the southwest at 2-8 mph, and gusty near thunderstorms. Tomorrow will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening. The high will be near 92. The wind will be from the west at 5-11 mph. Wednesday will be partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The morning low will be near 73. The afternoon high will be near 94. Thursday will be partly cloudy with a few afternoon showers. The morning low will be near 73. The afternoon high will be near 95.
