A Clarke County woman has been charged for neglect after her child died in a fire.
Investigators have charged 36-year-old Pamela Evans with manslaughter in the death of her four-year old daughter in June 2012. She has also been charged with three counts of child deprivation in relation to her other children.
Authorities say all four children were at Evans' home in Pachuta in the care of a teenage babysitter overnight while she went out on the night of the fire.
"The State Fire Marshal's Office, as well as fire investigators, deemed the fire an accidental fire," said Kemp. "But circumstances surrounding the fire and the cause of the fire were the reason for the charge. Basically, these children were neglected and left in an atmosphere that was deemed unsafe."
Evans was arrested late last week. She has bonded out of jail. Her case is scheduled to go to grand jury in February 2013.
