Lauderdale County, Miss. Lauderdale County deputies are searching for the person responsible for shooting into a house with 11 people inside.
Sheriff Billy Sollie says it happened at this home in the 7500 block of J O Thomas Road about 1:30 Thursday morning. The sheriff says 10 of those people were sleeping at the time.
"Of the 11 persons inside the home, no one was injured," Sollie says. "There was property damage done to the house, as well as two vehicles located in the front yard."
The sheriff tells Newscenter 11 an exact motive in the case is unknown. However, this is not the first time the family living in this home has been through something like this.
"Based on the investigation, this family was living inside the city of Meridian," Sollie explains. "And had been recently involved in another drive-by shooting where their home was shot into."
Investigators have not be able to locate any persons of interest in this case, but Sollie says it's very likely that the person or persons responsible for the first shooting are also responsible for this latest one.
"It appears that whatever anger was directed their way inside the city has followed them out into the county," Sollie adds.
Sollie says evidence was collected at the scene of the crime and he says if deputies track down a suspect, they will work with the crime lab to match any weapons that are recovered.
If you have any information that can help investigators, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 855-485-8477.
