Meridian, Mississippi Meridian's Navy League hosted its largest fundraiser of the year Thursday night at Key Field.
Every year the event, called "Wings and Tails" raises money to help fund support of NAS Meridian and its military members who serve there. Guests enjoyed meeting personnel from the base, live music, an antique car show and a shrimp dinner. Organizers hoped to raise about twenty thousand dollars.
"There's so many things that the Navy League does with the base and distinguished awards and just work with them to create a nice balance between the base and the community," said Mike Reed, president of the Mississippi Council of the Navy League.
About five hundred people attended Thursday night's "Wings and Tails."
