"I want justice for my daughter," said parent Donna Boler.

Boler said her daughter was attacked from behind while leaving Neshoba Central High School during early checkout for seniors Apr. 6.

"I got thrown on the ground and all of these people were just hitting me and pulling my hair," said Boler's daughter, Jillian.

Jillian says an 18-year-old female student initiated the fight and was joined by at least four other students. All, except one, were girls.

Jillian said two other students who were not involved saw the fight, and notified school officials. When they arrived, she says her attackers drove away in a vehicle.

A day and a half later Boler said the principal invited her to view video of the attack that was captured on a student's cell phone.

"I said, 'Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Mr. Shaw, you see they are trying to hurt my child! They're trying to kill my child on that ground!'" said Boler.

After watching the video, Neshoba Central school superintendent, George Shaw, says school officials determined that only one student was the aggressor.

"At times, the others got involved in the fiasco, but we could see them trying to separate the two kids," Shaw said.

Shaw said the student who initiated the attack has since been disciplined, according to district policy.

In light of the attack, Shaw says the district is taking more precautions by advising teachers and administrators to be even more alert.

By the summer, the school system plans to increase the number of surveillance cameras it has from 36 to 72.

Ten of those will provide extra surveillance to outside areas that are already monitored.

Shaw says he feels school officials responded as quickly as possible to the incident.

"I felt that we definitely did what we should do," Shaw said.

Boler has filed charges against the five students accused of attacking her daughter. The four who are 18 were charged as adults. The other was a 17-year-old charged as a juvenile.

The Neshoba County Sheriff's Department says it's continuing to investigate what happened.
