The Tubby family home is no more. Officials in Neshoba County say it appears a fire that started in the family's kitchen early Sunday morning quickly spread through the double-wide mobile home, claiming the lives of Josh and Leslie Tubby's three small children who were all sleeping in a separate bedroom.
"When the father was awakened by a fourth child that was a family member, but was visiting the home, he was awakened by that child," Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell says. "At that time, the home was engulfed in flames and smoke."
Waddell tells Newscenter 11 that Tubby did everything he could to access the bedroom where the children were sleeping, but that the fire was simply too out of control. The fourth child staying with the Tubby's was taken to an area hospital before being flown to a burn center in Georgia. No word on the four-year-old boy's condition.
The family's grandfather was also there at the time of the fire. Waddell says he was taken to a hospital in Brandon and is expected to be okay. While an investigation is underway to determine what may have caused the fire, Sheriff Waddell says it does not appear to be intentional.
"At this time, it appears to be a tragic, tragic accident," Waddell says.
And Waddell credit the local fire departments for getting the fire out, which he says he took most of the morning. Waddell admits it is never easy dealing with a situation like this, especially when young kids are involved.
"No, it's not," he says. "And I would like for the community to just pray for the Tubby family because I just cannot imagine losing all your children. It's a sad day."
The victims are three-month-old Neldavinna Tubby, one-year-old Omarion Tubby, and two-year-old Sharron Tubby.

When all this was taking place Where was the highly ranked fire dept (CFD) at? Where were they when they were really needed? I guess since it wasn't nesh.co.fair cabin that wasn't on fire it didn't call for them to be present. That's the same thing with the Tribe's ambulances, they're out cruising the countryside or pulled in at one of the resturants in philly. Wake up TRIBAL MEMBERS and start talking to your councilman since you've elected them in. Wasteful spending and it's your money they're playing with.
My prayers to the families all involved, also to the emergency personnel who witnessed such a tragic accident. May the sweet precious babies rest in peace and prayers to Orex and Tommy for a speedy recovery. Anyone willing to help donate monetary or clothing, etc. can do so at a Trustmark Bank under the account: Josh & Leslie Tubby Family May god comfort the parents during for their tragic loss.
