Crime was the topic for Wednesday's meeting of the Meridian Rotary Club.
Police Chief Benny Dubose was the guest speaker. He talked about gangs in Meridian and new policies the police department is working to implement.
Dubose says he feels it is important for the people of Meridian to know what is going on in their city and for them to know what the police department is doing to remedy some of those problems.
Dubose also says he has noticed a difference with the new policies they have incorporated.
"As a matter of fact we have. The recent shooting that we had occurred the same day we reactivated the Violent Crimes Unit, and we had a suspect in custody with in seventy-two hours," said Dubose.
Dubose says he plans to make several changes to try to make the city of Meridian a safer place.
