New Developments in Clarke County Murder Case

Clarke County, Mississippi Clarke County Chief Deputy Barry White says the investigation continues into the murder of a Meridian woman whose body was found dumped in the woods Tuesday, and now there are other persons of interest in the case.

White says Rodney Johnson of Wayne County, has now officially been charged with the murder of Cierra Simms, of Meridian. A preliminary autopsy report showed that Simms was strangled and beaten to death sometime late Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Clarke County authorities also say Darrick Foy has been taken into custody as a person of interest in the case, and they say a woman, Sharlene Ruffin, is also a person of interest and turned herself in late Friday night. No charges have been filed yet against the two.
