New Leadership Placed at Carver Middle School

Meridian, Miss.
Meridian Public Schools announced Thursday that it's making some major changes at one of its failing schools.

Superintendent Dr. Alvin Taylor announced that he's replacing the principal and assistant principal, effective immediately.

Mary Swindell has been named interim principal. She replaces Tiffany Plott.

Plott and assistant principal, Victor Lucas, have been reassigned to other duties within the district until their contracts expire at the end of the school year.

Taylor said Carver will also receive additional administrative support from Howard Hagwood and Travis Cornish. He said the process of recruiting a new principal for Carver for the 2014-15 school year will begin in April.
