He's no stranger to the state's tourism industry and he's about to be the man who leads it.
Malcolm White will be taking on the role of the Mississippi Development Authority's director of tourism. White brings more than 40 years of experience in the economic development and tourism industries. He spent the last seven years as executive director of the Mississippi Arts Commission.
With legislative budget cuts looming at MDA, white says he's not that concerned, because it's something he's used to and plans to stretch every dollar in the name of tourism.
"My job will be to take the money that the legislature gives us and to do a good job with it, to be a good steward of public dollars and to manage tourism well," White says.
Governor Phil Bryant says how the money is spent and where are crucial because of what the state gets back for spending it.
