Meridian, Miss. Meridian's first baby of the New Year was born at Rush Hospital.
Little baby boy "Brayden" at 6:12 p.m. New Year's Day, to parents Staci Smith and Neal James of Lisman, Alabama. Brayden weighed in at 5 lbs, 13 ounces and is 19 inches long. He was one of two babies born at Meridian hospitals on New Year's Day, but he was born first, by about two hours.
Father Neal James says he's not sure how he feels, ""I don't know. Words can't express how i feel right now."
While Mom Staci Smith expressed her excitement, "It feels great. We have the first baby of the year!"
The second baby of 2014 was born at Anderson's Hospital about 8:30 last night. Her name is Kenzleigh Gabrielle Monique Gooden, born to Kiffany Gooden of Hickory.
