Newton County, Miss. An inmate in the Newton County Detention Facility has been charged in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
31-year-old John Thomas Roberts was served with the charges while behind bars on unrelated charges.
Roberts has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and has been denied bond.
Officials say the Newton County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics cooperated in the investigation.
A news release from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety did not reveal the names of the intended victims.
