Newton School District Delivers Coats for Kids

Newton Public Schools pitched in this year to support Coats for Kids.

The coats were donated by students and their families in a district-wide community service project.

The coats were delivered Thursday to Wesley House, which distributes them where they are needed.

School superintendent, Dr. Virginia Young, says education can involve more than just academics.

"We always want to teach our children about giving and helping those who are less fortunate," said Young. "And our students love to give, and their parents. So we're just thankful for that and that they understand that it's better to give than it is to receive."

Nearly 100 coats were collected by Newton Public Schools, some of them brand new.
