NorthPark Church Provides Tornado Relief Through Comedian

Meridian, Miss. NorthPark Church in Meridian drew in a crowd Saturday night to help provide tornado relief in northern Mississippi.

The church brought in Christian comedian J.J. Jasper for a performance at the church. Jasper is known for his work on American Family Radio. Senior Pastor Earl Wheatley says they had already planned to bring Jasper in, but after the tornadoes hit, he knew they could take this opportunity to help those in need.

"We already had the schedule, but when we heard about the disaster up in Tupelo and Louisville, we contacted J.J. and he agreed we could turn it into a fundraiser benefiting these people," Wheatley says. "So tonight after J.J., we'll be taking up an offering, and all of that will go up to help Tupelo tornado relief."

This isn't NorthPark's first effort to help storm victims. NorthPark has also helped to provide relief during Katrina and many other storms in the area.
