Meridian, Miss. Some local dancers got the chance to try out for one of the most beloved holiday traditions in the world Thursday.
Auditions took place this evening for the upcoming Meridian edition of the Nutcracker Ballet. Ages five and up tried out for the parts of the play, and all the children will get a chance to participate in some way. The ballet will be performed at the Temple Theatre on November 20th. The kids will get to join performers from the Moscow Ballet for that performance.
"I think it's a good chance for them. It's a good chance to be on the stage with a professional artist, with Russian artists to perform, to be able to dance with them," said professional ballet dancer Carolina Cicsanu.
Six different ballet studios in Meridian will work with the children to get ready for the performance.
