Meridian's famed carousel horses got a little extra decoration for the month of February.

The horses in the Around Town Carousels Abound collection are wearing red ribbons during February, to remind people it's National Heart Month and to take care of your heart.

It's a shared project of the American Heart Association and Meridian Main Street.

Students from Lamar High School are helping to tie the bows on the horses.

"So many Americans these days are dying due to heart problems,' said Lamar senior, Madison Lee. "So we're just trying to remind the community what they need to do."

The students plan to decorate all 48 of the horses this month.They've done about 30 so far.
