MPD: Infant taken to hospital Sunday night after home invasion in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian police say an infant was taken to the hospital after a Sunday night home invasion in Meridian.

It happened at a home in the 900 block of 38th Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Sergeant Dareall Thompson says two black males entered the house wearing masks. Thompson says the suspects were armed.

Thompson says the suspects went into a room where a woman was sleeping with an infant child in her arms. Thompson says the suspect grabbed the child while they were asleep and threw the child on the floor.

Sergeant Thompson says the child was taken to the hospital to be checked out. We have not heard about possible injuries to the child.

Thompson says the suspects attempted to take things from the house, but ran away without taking anything. They exited from the back of the residence.
