The Kemper County Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are teaming up to reduce the number of accidents that happen near the coal plant site. The effort is called, "Operation Slow Them Down." During it Wednesday afternoon 87 citations were issued. The citations ranged from seat belt violations to one DUI, one possession of marijuana charge and a number of driving without a license or with a suspended license violations. In all, 14 arrests were made. In the future Sheriff James Moore says more of these joint traffic efforts will be conducted in the area near the coal plant.
