Livingston, Alabama People from all across the twin states, including our WTOK staff, took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at the University of West Alabama Thursday night.
It just took a ten dollar donation to nominate someone to take the challenge, and then bid one dollar for a person in a group to take the challenge. WTOK staff that took the challenge include Andrea Williams, Candace Barnette, Christian Monsour, Tiffany Harper, Tim Irvine, and Tom Williams. A spokesperson for the ALS Association of Alabama Chapter came to the big challenge Thursday night, and she says the challenges have been a bright spot for the people that suffer from the disease.
"It is helping our patients so much, just gives them a lot of joy in an otherwise very devastating time in their life," said Janet Thorn of the ALS Association of Alabama chapter.
Thorn says the small donations will mean so much because patient referrals have risen 50 percent in Alabama because of the awareness that the Ice Bucket Challenge has brought.
