Philadelphia Investigates Fires

Philadelphia, Miss.
Philadelphia firefighters have several active investigations ongoing into recent fires.

On Thanksgiving morning, firefighters battled a fire at Mars, Mars, & Mars Law Office downtown. Then on Saturday, firefighters were on their way to a fire at McKee's Pawn Shop, when they noticed another smoke plume coming from Philadelphia High School.

They were able to put out the fire at McKee's fairly quickly, but the fire at Philadelphia High consumed a concession stand.

"The fire at the law office has been ruled accidental," said Steven Copeland, fire investigator. "Both fires from Saturday morning, accidental causes have been ruled out on both of those, and we are looking at arson on both of those."

Investigators are not certain whether this could be the work of one or more individuals. They urge anyone with any information to share it with police.
