Philadelphia Police Chief Bill Cox confirmed to Newscenter 11 Tuesday night that he has submitted his resignation to the mayor and board of aldermen.
Cox said he has accepted a position with the town of Olive Branch, Miss. His resignation is effective Aug. 30.
Cox was hired as chief in November 2012. Before that he worked as a detective in the Philadelphia Police Department.
