Philadelphia, Miss. As a precaution, Philadelphia High School and Middle School were placed on lockdown Monday when law enforcement officers were in pursuit of a suspect.

The district says at about 8:55 a.m., agencies were in pursuit of a suspect in the general area of the Philadelphia Middle and High School campuses.

Philadelphia High School and Philadelphia Middle School implemented the crisis management plan and followed procedures.

The district says there no incident on either campus.

Officials say the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody, and after that the lockdown was suspended.

"As always, the safety of our students, staff, and faculty is our first priority," said Dr. Terry Larabee, Philadelphia superintendent.

Larabee said the district's administrative team would meet and review all actions to verify proper measures were taken and to make any needed corrections.
