Photo IDs Required at Polls June 3

Jackson, Miss.

Mississippi's attorney general has cleared up any confusion that might surround the issue of voter IDs being required at the polls June 3.

Jim Hood says election officials are required by law to ask for a photo ID when people show up to vote.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann asked Hood to issue an opinion.

Hood says the photo ID is required, even if poll workers know the voters personally.

The law also applies to people voting by absentee ballot.

Absentee voting in Mississippi may continue through
5 p.m. May 31.
